Brand Announcement Memo
When you’re first introduced to a company with a well-defined brand, one that infiltrates every facet of an organization and adds enthusiasm to your purpose, work becomes fun. Inspired by the memories of fun, when this project called for creating a fictitious company, designing a new logo and introducing it to the company’s employees in a memo, fun was top of mind.
Inspired by a dream of turning a hobby into a small business, Flour Hour Workshops is the go-to fictitious business anytime a project calls for one. It’s easy to be creative and write for hours about topics you’re passionate about.
Design and visual communication skills were used to develop a clean, simple, playful logo with just a bit of frosting (color). Creative writing was mixed in to establish a brand for Flour Hour Workshops, complete with the identity of a playfully professional company and owner (much like me). The final memo’s purpose, to encourage adoption of the new logo and brand, was professionally written while successfully folding in the brand’s tone, and signature sign-off, “Bake it a great day!”
Investor Proposal
Welcome back to Flour Hour Workshops. This time the company wants to expand its footprint and customer base. The project was to write a proposal to an actual Angel Investor, on behalf of the fictitious company requesting a specified investment for a marketing campaign in return for a percentage stake in the company. It was important to write to the audience, the investor, with a well-organized pitch of the ask, the company’s story and the potential outcomes. The proposal asked for an investment in flour.
The assignment required research, competitive analysis, and critical thinking to generate a professional proposal for an imaginary vision for the future of my favorite fictitious business. The data was organized into a recipe for success - creating an informative, fact-based, persuasive proposal that was credible, professional and respectful.
